Neill Blomkamp-Short Film Director

Neill Blomkamp  was born 17 September 1979 originally from Johannesburg is a South-African, Canadian based film and advertisement director. Neill Blomkamp is known for his documentary-style, hand-held technique, blending naturalistic and photo-realistic computer generated effects. 

At the age 16 he began working as an animator for Deadtime under Sharlto Copley. His family relocated to Vancouver, Then 18, enrolled in Vancouver Film School. In 2003, Blomkamp was hired to illustrate photo-real future aircraft for Popular Science's "Next century in Aviation" and in 2004 was hired to illustrate "The Future of the Automobile". Neill Blomkamp worked as a visual effects artist at The Embassy Of Visual Effects in Vancouver as well as Rainmaker Digital Effects.

In 2007, Neill Blomkamp directed a trilogy of live-action short films 'Landfall' set in the 'Halo' universe, to promote the release of 'Halo 3'. In 2008, 'Halo- Combat Evolved', the first of the three installments, won the Cannes Lions 2008 – Film Lions Grand Prix. 

Since then Neill Blomkamp has made quite a collection of short films as well as another feature length film due for release in 2011.
