The Stairwell by Shane Meadows

The Stairwell is a 40 second short film made by Shane Meadows in 2005 for the Nokia Shorts competition of which was shot completely on a mobile phone.

-I like the Disjointed angles seen at the beginning of the film as they give off a sense of uneasiness to the audience and the fact that Shane Meadows has chosen to introduce the characters from behind was done on purpose as it builds up mystery about the character.
-The dark blue lighting adds to the slightly apprehensive atmosphere, as not everything can be seen that well, it is quite gritty.
-The Camera Angles are slightly distorted and keeps the characters quite mysterious which is quite good as it lets the audience have there only feeling on the character despite him looking a little dodgy.
-A journey is being shown through a number of different camera angles which ultimately just make the whole film seem more interesting.
-The whole film is quite eery and the music used just adds more and builds up the tension.
-This films really shows of Shane Meadows individual style as a director as he managed to hold the audiences attention successfully.
